IMPORTANT FUTURE TRENDS IN DENTAL-LAB TECHNOLOGY (PART 1)

The future of dental-lab technology has long since begun. The digital revolution (CAD/CAM) has also reached the dental world. Are you interested to know where dental-lab technology is heading?

1. CAD/CAM:

There is (almost) no way around it The digital revolution has also reached the dental world. The use of CAD/CAM in dental laboratories makes work more efficient than ever before. The working steps are reduced and simplified and process safety is increased at the same time. The results are more reliable and more predictable, with increased reproducibility. In addition, digital technology connects you more closely to the world at large.

2. Increased process safety and more reliable results

Do you prefer being on the safe side rather than being surprised? If so, make sure that your work processes and thus your results are as reliable as possible and predictable regarding quality and esthetics. Apart from using CAD/CAM there are many ways to increase safety & reliability:

    • Use coordinated products and product systems whose reliability has been confirmed in tests or studies carried out over many years.
    • Use certified machines for the materials in use.
    • Stick to “one product line”.

Do not use products or machines in your working processes which are not indicated or validated to be used together. Avoid unnecessary experiments. Do not “mix” products that were not meant for each other.

3. Work with more efficiency

Streamline your daily routine and your working procedures by introducing more efficiency in your laboratory. Check whether you are using products and products systems which are versatile in their application. For example, how many staining and glazing systems are you currently using? Maybe there is one system that could be used for different kinds of restorations? This saves space on your shelves and having to make complicated decisions.
