[DA NANG WORKSHOP] TROUBLESHOOTING AND QUALITY CONTROL IN ALL-CERAMIC RESTORATIONS – FROM PRESSED CERAMICS TO ZIRCONIA

On October 16, 2026, Dai Duong, in collaboration with Sagemax, successfully hosted a professional workshop in Da Nang under the theme “Troubleshooting and Quality Control in All-Ceramic Restorations – From Pressed Ceramics to Zirconia.” The workshop provided in-depth knowledge, practical insights, and a systematic approach to various stages of all-ceramic restoration fabrication, with a focus on improving quality, optimizing workflows, and effectively identifying and addressing common challenges in dental laboratory practice.

PROCESS CONTROL – THE FOUNDATION OF HIGH-QUALITY RESTORATIONS

In modern dental prosthetics, successful all-ceramic restorations require more than accurate anatomy and functional performance. They must also meet high standards of aesthetics, strength, and long-term stability. Every stage, from material selection and restoration processing to final surface characterization, can directly influence the quality of the finished restoration.

Led by DT. Thanh Cao from HT Dental Lab, the workshop focused on professional approaches to identifying, controlling, and correcting errors throughout the all-ceramic fabrication process. Drawing on practical experience, participants had the opportunity to explore the potential causes of discrepancies at different stages and learn how to establish appropriate control measures, minimize repetitive adjustments, and improve the consistency of laboratory outcomes.

FROM PRESSED CERAMICS TO ZIRCONIA – MASTERING MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES

One of the workshop’s key topics was the application of Sagemax materials and aesthetic finishing solutions in all-ceramic restoration workflows.

With SAGEMAX PRESSCERAMIC, pressed ceramic technology offers opportunities to reproduce restoration anatomy and optical characteristics while requiring careful control of material processing to achieve the desired accuracy and finishing quality.

In addition, the multilayer zirconia materials NEXXZR T-MULTI and PLUS MULTI provide restorative options with aesthetic and mechanical properties suited to a range of clinical indications. Understanding material characteristics, selecting the appropriate solution, and controlling fabrication parameters are essential for dental technicians to fully leverage the potential of each zirconia product.

Particular attention was also given to PAINT 3D and its application in 3D staining techniques, highlighting the importance of color control and restoration personalization. Rather than focusing solely on the overall shade, technicians need to evaluate color distribution, shade transitions, and optical effects across the tooth surface to reproduce the natural appearance of real teeth.

Combining appropriate material selection with controlled staining techniques helps create restorations with greater aesthetic depth, natural-looking characterization, and visual harmony.

SHARING EXPERTISE – TOWARD STANDARDIZED WORKFLOWS

Beyond knowledge updates, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for dental technicians to exchange experiences, explore practical troubleshooting methods, and strengthen their approach to quality control in everyday laboratory work.

Through this program, Dai Duong and Sagemax reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the dental community through material updates, knowledge sharing, and the advancement of modern restorative techniques.

Effective process control – accurate identification of root causes – targeted troubleshooting are essential to improving the quality of all-ceramic restorations, optimizing laboratory efficiency, and delivering restorations that increasingly meet demanding standards of aesthetics, function, and durability.
